Losing ten pounds in a week is a more extreme form of weight loss. Though shows like the biggest loser will highlight weight loss like this, most doctors don’t recommend doing this as a long-term strategy. However, if you want to kick-start a weight loss campaign or try something different for a short period of time, there are ways that you can lose ten pounds in a week. Here are some popular choices:

Try a Fast

Fasting is an ancient and popular way to gain clarity in your life. Fasts often don’t mean eating nothing, but very limited calories. Some fasts are liquid only, while others will only allow a single, small meal each day. The amount of time that you spend on a fast can be a day, a weekend, or your entire week. Be certain if you are not eating to continue to stay well-hydrated, and don’t do anything strenuous like heavy exercise when you are not consuming food. If you have health issues, be careful of fasting without a doctor’s permission.

Try a Cleanse

Cleanses work to get toxins out of your body. If you manage to pull much of what is making your body bloat, you may be able to lose a lot of water weight during your cleanse period. There are over the counter cleanses that you can buy in a natural health food store that can help you to clean out your colon, heavy metals and other things that may be causing you weight gain. Other cleanses require eating “clean”, and eliminating things like sugars, caffeine, and carbohydrates from your diet for a certain period of time. Again, hydration is important.

Do an Exercise Boot Camp

By choosing a lean, low calorie diet and doing a week of heavy duty exercise, you can sweat away ten pounds in a week biggest loser style. This option is best for people who already have a regular exercise routine, because injury is least likely this way. The important things to remember about this version is to only do exercise that you are cleared for and that will be safe for whatever shape you are in. Keep hydrated, do proper warm-ups and cool downs, and maintain a healthy diet that gives you enough calories to safely work out.

After the Week

All of these strategies are short term, and don’t work for more than about a week at a time. The best way to keep that weight off is to find a low calorie diet and exercise program to do as a regular, healthy part of your life.
