4 Reasons Why We Never Give Ourselves the Advice We Would Give to a Friend
I mostly found myself giving people the best advices ever. I always try my best to leave the person feeling better and inspired. But when I fall into the same situation, I never treat myself the same. I always found myself being negative to myself and recently chatting with my friends I realized we all make the same mistake. We never treat ourselves the way we would treat a friend.
So I started jotting down points every time I end up in this kind of situation so I can know why I am not a friend of myself!
1)- Unawareness of our selves:
“If you know yourself, you’ll never be harmed by what is said about you”
The first point I found out about this situation was that we don’t really know ourselves. We never try to dig deeper within ourselves instead we keep trying to know more about the people we love (celebrities, friends, partners) which is a good thing but the first task should be knowing your own self before others. So you don’t go blank when next time someone asks you to tell a little bit about yourself.
2)-Self Doubts:
When I asked people through a pole to jot down the good and bad things about themselves, l found out the bad things section of pole was far lengthier than the good ones. I got to realize that most of them had the potential but still they doubt themselves so much. We tend to hate ourselves so much without any logical reason. We make judgment of ourselves by our appearance though sometimes others like you for the same very reason. So accept what you are and stop doubting yourself.
3)- Playing Safe:
I have seen this category a lot in my life. Those people we often knew that have a same daily routine every day. They won’t ever try something new and are so used to being playing safe that it gets creepy sometimes. If you are one of them it might seem alright now but you’ll end up with a lot of regrets in future. Get out of the comfort zone try something new every day. Be flexible. This will help you find out something new about yourself every day. Also it will help you in becoming a friend with your inner self.
4)-Love:
Do you love yourself? No I am not talking about the self obsessing type but do you honestly love yourself like a sincere friend?? Because that is the biggest reason for not treating yourself right. You will never be able to love someone if you won’t love yourself first. Become the first priority of yourself.
According to shams of Tabriz: “ if you want to the change the way others treat you, you should first change the way you treat yourself. Unless you learn to love yourself, fully and sincerely, there is no way you can be loved. However, be thankful for every thorn that others throw at you. It is a sign that you will soon be showered in roses.”
So try to shake hands with the inner you and become your own friend. Stop doubting yourselves because you are the bestest friend you can ever get!
