10 Ways to Jumpstart Your Day

We all know how hard it is to get the day going.

You wake up, your bed is entirely too comfortable.

After pressing “snooze” on your alarm clock half a dozen times, it’s time to get up.

Your coffee is taking too long to percolate.

You can’t find anything good to pack for lunch.

How do you get out of this fog and get a head start on your day?

1)    Time to Exercise!
The last thing most people want to do in the morning is expend a lot of energy, but studies have shown that a consistent exercise regime early in the morning can boost your energy levels. The more exercise you can handle, the better your stamina. Don’t forget to stretch!

2)    Play That Funky Music
Nothing perks up a dull mood like a catchy song with a great beat. If you’re finding that your mood is a little blue and you’re having a hard time waking up, try putting on a song that you know will get your feet moving.

3)    Healthy Breakfast
Don’t bother saving time by choking down a stale bagel for breakfast. Your body has nutritional requirements that should not be ignored. Try to get some protein-rich foods such as bacon and eggs before you go to work. Your energy levels will be significantly higher.

4)    Vitamins
Feeling groggy in the morning? Try some Vitamin B12. Not only will it help your energy levels, but it will also produce red blood cells, helping your iron levels. Taking a multivitamin daily can help improve your overall wellbeing.

5)    Sexy Time!
If you have a few spare moments in the morning, (if you don’t, get up earlier) try cozying up to your spouse for some good old fashioned loving. Nothing puts quite the spring in your step the way morning sex does.

6)    Positive Thoughts
If you wake up in the morning and think to yourself, “This is going to be a rotten day,” then you’re going to have a rotten day. If you stay hopeful for a great day, you leave yourself open to positive energy. You can decide to have a good day. It’s up to you to keep it that way.

7)    Go Outside
No matter the weather, stepping outside for a few minutes can calm the mind. If the weather permits, try to enjoy your morning coffee outside and take that time to reflect on the good things to look forward to in your day (even if that one good thing means leaving work for the day).

8)    Do Something Different
Even something as small as changing the part in your hair can revitalize your spirits. Even if no one notices, you’ll know that something’s different.

9)    Do a Good Deed
If you regularly buy your coffee at a drivethru, try buying for the person behind you. An act of kindness can lift the heart like nothing else. Chances are, the person you helped could also use the warm, fuzzy feelings.

10)    Memories
If you want to recapture a happy feeling, think of a time when you genuinely felt it. Take some time every morning to think of something you’re thankful for, or something that happened that made you feel good. Taking that memory with you can help you perk up your mood for the day.
