Everywhere you look – haters. With social media so abundant in today’s day and age, and allowing people to cross communicate around the world at such high speeds, you don’t have to look far to find keyboard warriors and negative criticism, and even hate.

The truth is negative people will always exist. The trick is instead of allowing them to give you their negative energy and allowing it to affect you, turn it around and allow it to motivate you positively. Here is how to do so:

Control your emotions

Unfortunately, most haters were once people you could probably call a friend. For this reason, when they talk crap it can bring out some heavy emotions. You once trusted this person, so for them to turn around and use that trust against you, it’s easy to fall into the trap of allowing them to give you a negative mindset and feeling hurt. Instead of allowing them to win and trying to think of a way to retaliate, be gracious that you are so important to them that they feel the need to talk and think about you on a continuous basis. Use it to motivate you to be a successful, as success is the greatest revenge.

Re-evaluate yourself

When someone gives you negative criticism, take it as a gift. Ask yourself, “Wow is there any truth to what they’re saying?” Use it as an opportunity to re-evaluate the perception you may be giving off, rather than taking it as an attack. We grow stronger by working on our criticisms, but only IF we allow ourselves too. Also remember, perception is a someone’s reality. Just because you may see yourself in a particular way, it is the perception of others that forms their objective view about you.

Prove them wrong

Nobody likes to be told “you can’t do it”, or “there’s no way you’ll be able to achieve it”. We don’t like “no”. Once again, instead of allowing it to take a negative toll on you, use it as fuel to push you harder in achieving your goals. Nothing says “I told you so” like taking action, staying consistent and getting it done. Actions always speak louder than words.

You’re obviously doing something right

People often ask why others look at what they’re doing, and try to find a negative critique about it. Why do they feel the need to talk hate if you’re out there trying to achieve something? Let’s face it – they’re jealous. As mentioned earlier, for them to feel the need to be talking about you, you’re obviously a big deal to them to be on their radar in the first place.

The truth is, haters are inevitable. The more successful you grow as a person, your business or company grows, or the more you start to achieve, you will get more and more haters. Let them hate. It’s a natural part of the process. What is crucial however, it how you allow it to affect you personally. Don’t allow negative mindsets to change your course on positive thinking. Instead, use it to fuel success.
