Prenatal multivitamins are important during pregnancy and also before pregnancy. According to a 2022 report by the United Nations Populations Fund, approximately 50% of pregnancies are unplanned(1). Additionally, the baby’s neural tube develops during the first month of pregnancy—before most women are aware they’re pregnant! If you are thinking about becoming pregnant, then you should start taking a prenatal multivitamin, as it will provide more of the specific nutrients needed to support the growth and development of your baby. It’s a good idea to have that nutritional support in place at least 3 months before you become pregnant.+ (1) State of World Population 2022 Report. United Nations Population Fund. 30 Mar 2022. |
Growing a baby is a lot of work for your body! That’s why nutrient requirements for many essential nutrients increase during this important time. Pregnant women should eat a well-balanced diet and take a prenatal multivitamin every day to support their nutritional needs and the needs of their developing baby. Folic Acid is especially important, as adequate Folic Acid in healthful diets may reduce a woman’s risk of having a child with a neural tube defect. Some essential nutrients, such as Iron, Choline, Calcium, Vitamin D and DHA, will support your baby’s growth and development throughout your pregnancy. These nutrients can be found in prenatal multivitamins or additional dietary supplements.+ |
After birth, consider switching to a postnatal multivitamin to support your changing nutritional needs. After all, your body has gone through a lot in the last nine months! Prenatal and postnatal vitamins are formulated to support both mom and baby’s specific needs during each of these special phases. For example, pregnant women have higher Folic Acid and Iron needs to support baby’s development, and after birth these needs shift. New moms will want to consider a postnatal multivitamin as many nutrient needs remain higher during this time, especially if breastfeeding. A postnatal multi will have many essential vitamins and minerals moms need while nursing to support you and your growing baby.+ |

If you open the bottle and give it a whiff, it does smell fishy. However, if you take out one pill and put it up to your nose the smell is undetectable. They dont leave a fishy taste in my mouth or give me any fishy burps. Maybe I have been lucky??
The pill is quite big, but it is a liquid softgel and easier for me to get down than a plain uncoated vitamin.
The bottle states that there are no artificial flavors, no preservatives & no yeast or gluten. The Amazon product features are incorrect by stating that there are no artificial colors. The label states that they contain Red 40, Yellow 6 and Blue 1. The Amazon description needs to be edited, but thats not a reason to give the vitamins themselves a bad review.
My first child turned out healthy and smart, and I’m happy with this product. I highly recommend these, but it does contain fish.
If you can’t grin and bear it, I don’t know what to tell you. DHA is going to be fishy, unless they hide it with chemicals. If you don’t like it choose a plant based DHA which these are not.
The iron levels are creating issues with constipation, but I alternate these with a regular gummy multi vitamin just so I’m getting some extra iron but not too stopped up 😂
