When it comes to stress production in our modern lives, the only things that typically beat moving are starting a new job or the death of a family member.

The truth is that while moving is never easy, it does not have to be a huge box of stress, either!

Take a moment to consider what your options are going to be when it comes to reducing the stress in your life when you and your family are moving, whether you are going across the city or across the world.

If you use these tips to plan before you move you are more likely to have much less stress when moving day comes around.

Create a Restaurant Budget

When you are in the middle of a move, you will find that the last thing that you want to do is to look at a kitchen that is half-packed and a fridge that is almost completely empty. You are going to be wanting something easy and predictable, and that means knowing where your favorite meals come from. Find a few restaurants that you can rely on, and just commit some cash to ordering out. This can save you a ton of stress.

When In Doubt, Toss It Out

At the beginning of a move, you are going to find yourself wanting to pack and sort everything very carefully. As the move goes on, if you keep this up, you are going to drive yourself crazy! Take a moment to remember that most of your older things probably need to get tossed anyway. If you do not think that you will use it in the future or if you know that you are going to replace it soon, throw it out. In many cases, it is far easier and less stress-inducing to simply throw things out than it is to keep them.

Hire a Babysitter

On the day of the big move, let your older kids help out where they can, but make sure that your really young children are being taken care of. The last thing that you want is to juggle a twenty pound box while you are trying to juggle a two year old at the same time! Having a babysitter on hand to make sure that you don’t forget the kids while you are getting everything loaded up can make things much easier for you.

Hiring Movers

When you are moving house early in your life, you will discover that you mostly do it on your own. Of course, you were also a lot younger and tougher then, and you might have been quite short on cash. If you have some cash, you can essentially buy off some of your stress by hiring movers. When you are looking for movers Phoenix and any other large city is going to have skilled and experienced staff to get you where you need to be, so explore your options.

If you are someone who is invested in making sure that your move goes well and that everyone is happy and rested when they move in, remember to be prepared. The more prep you do, the easier things will be. Give yourself a break and prioritize your comfort.
