For some reason, I woke up super early this morning (3AM) and couldn't fall back asleep. Perhaps disturbed by the Cubs loss last night, I came downstairs, made some Green Tea, and started reading through my various blog subscriptions.
One of the first posts that caught my eye was one written by Jonathon at My Money Blog. He shared an Equifax promotion that allows you to simply enter some pertinent information about yourself and then obtain your FICO score (as judged by Equifax).
I had the information filled in and 20 seconds later, I had my FICO score:

It's free and it's accurate. As you may know, Equifax is one of the 3-primary credit bureaus in the US and its score is used heavily as a risk criteria anytime you apply for a personal loan, credit card, or auto loan.
If you have no idea what your score is, take some time right now and check it out. If the promotion ends (as promotions do), you can also obtain a free credit report at annualcreditreport.com. While it won't give you a numerical score, it will provide you with a detailed report of your past and present credit lines, payment history, etc.
After getting your report or score, you may determine some credit cleaning is in order. If so, here are some good resources to review:
