As of today, Dumb Little Man and 4,645 other blogs are part of a movement named Blog Action Day. Many of the participating blogs have already discussed it on their sites, but my feeling is that initiatives often lose momentum unless they are constantly reinforced. As such, I delayed announcing my participation until today, roughly 1 month before "the day".
In short, Blog Action Day signifies a day that all participants write and share information about a single topic in hopes that a single message is conveyed to all of our readers. On October 15th, the topic that all of our blogs will touch on is the environment and how we can protect it, as individuals.
If you are a blogger, I highly encourage your participation in this program. I think we all know that world peace or hunger is not going to be solved through this program, but building awareness to world issues could make a small impact.
If you want to join the initiative supported by Dumb Little Man, Lifehacker, Get Rich Slowly, Copyblogger and over 4,000 other blogs, visit Blog Action Day.
In fact, the more I think about this, I am very surprised that Technorati hasn't voluntarily offered to promote this initiative. As they struggle to remain relevant in the blogging community, this is the type of initiative they should be part of. If anyone has a buddy at Technorati, let them know about this.
