DLM is Trumped: Bust A Name is a better Domain Search Tool

I love Dumb Little Man and the audience it has attracted.

A few days ago I wrote about a site named Super Fast Domain Search. One of our readers was convinced that he knew of a better alternative. I mildly challenged him by asking that he explain further. Most people would have blown it off but he was so convinced, he wrote up an article for Dumb Little Man. Before you cry foul, he is not getting paid by anyone to write this and I am not getting paid to post it.

So, here is Walt's explanation of Bust a Name and yes, I agree with him that this is a stronger tool than Super Fast Domain Search:

Bust A Name has very quickly become my favorite tool for finding great new domain names.

It's essentially a word combiner. Simply plug in your keywords and it will instantly try every possible combination of those words and let you know which are available as domain names.

That's nice, but it's actually quite a bit more powerful than that. For one, it includes a thesaurus to give you even more ideas for each
keyword that you type in. Hover your mouse over the blue arrow, and you'll see synonyms for the keywords you selected. Clicking the plus sign will add them to your list, and it will instantly check available domains with those new words.

If you have a lot of keywords, you'll inevitably find that the domains returned are using overlapping keywords. For example, if you're using keywords cook, cooking, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you might find that available domains are cookingcook.com and
dinnerbreakfastlunch.com. To group similar words, click on "Add Group", then drag and drop your keywords into each group. This will prevent keywords in the same group from being used together. Following the above example, we'd put "cook" and "cooking" in Group 1, and "breakfast" "lunch" "dinner" in Group 2. Now it only returns available domains such as dinnercooking.com, cooklunch.com, etc.

If you still have too many domains to easily search through, use the "Sort Domains By" drop-down box which will let you sort them by quality, length, and alphabetically.

Finally, if you still want more options, at the bottom of the page you can choose the domain extensions you want to use, add a prefix or suffix, try the domain combinations with plural nouns, as well as some other handy options.

If you'd rather just type in domains to instantly see if your choice is available (like Instant Domain Search), that feature is available
as well.
