How many lists have you read that pertain to saving money. If I had to guess, I'd say multiple. I mean there are thousands of finance sites and blogs and they all have a "list". Some are pretty good, the majority are screamingly obvious. Heck, last year we even wrote about various ways to save money and I cringe to think what category it falls into.
Avoiding the ultra-obvious is a reason that I like 12 Simple Ways to Save Money on Utilities (and the Planet) written on a blog named Five Cent Nickel. His tips are certainly valid and you won't find anything close to, "Use coupons".
Here are a few that I personally haven't implemented but probably should consider after conducting a time vs. reward analysis.
- Put a brick sealed jar or jug of water in your toilet tank..
- Install low-flow shower heads.
- Install aerator screens on all of your faucets.
- Insulate your attic access.
- Weather strip your doors and windows.
- Plant trees in strategic locations around your house.
