We've posted running tips before in hopes (primarily) that one of us at Dumb Little Man will actually start a running program and stick with it (sigh). But hey, just because we don't have what it takes doesn't mean that you don't.
First here are 7 tips to consider before beginning:
- Plan to spend 20-30 minutes at a time, three days each week.
- Get some good running shoes.
- Stretch before and after a run.
- Learn the basics of good form.
- Breathe.
- Enjoy yourself!
- Make running a habit.
They then goes on to explain each of these points in good detail. To top it off, they also list and discuss over a dozen other tips and warnings. If you are really series about dropping some weight before the winter, this is a good place to start your research.
EDIT: I have removed the link to the original source because it appears as if they copied all of the running content (word-for-word) from Wikipedia. I have a hard time with that and don't want any part of it. Instead, I am inserting the link to the Wikipedia entry. As I mentioned, it's the exact same content.
