FreeCycle: Get free stuff from your neighbors

I am sure that at some point you have heard of Craigslist. Well, this is the free section x10.

Basically you enter your zip code and view items that people in your neighborhood are giving away. If you have "stuff" to get rid of, you can post them there and someone may come pick it up. One of the site rules is that everything must be free so there is no bartering or payments to worry about.

I did a quick search of my zip code and there were over 350 posts so there is certainly a large enough member base to ensure there is something for everyone.

I was surprised by 2 things. They are actually non-profit and they are also international (presence in Germany, the UK, Canada and Australia.)

Couldn't hurt right? Enter your zip or postal code and see what pops up! Check them out at Freecycle.org.

i do this in northern virginia and have already scored some board games and a ceiling light fixture, as well as managed to unload some stuff that otherwise would have wasted space in our local landfill.

stuff goes fast around here, but it doesn't hurt to see who's offering what! thanks for making others aware of a great community site.
